Antiquing

Because of the rich history of the State of Vermont and its important role during the Revolutionary period of our country, there remains many interesting artifacts preserved at historical sites and museums. In addition, certain household items such as furniture, knick-knacks, and memorabilia, handed down among families or saved by individuals interested in their historical value or significance, can be found in the many antique shops throughout the region. Some are housed in conventional village shops, others can be found in the countryside in refurbished barns or farmhouses. Whatever the venue, antique treasures abound in the crossroads of Vermont.

There are no less than 40 antique and collectibles shops in towns and villages throughout the region. Many are specialty shops, dealing in collectible music boxes, dolls, china, silver, books, and antique jewelry. Others are generalists, offering a cornucopia of items from period, Victorian, and antique furniture to folk art, paintings, glassware, and much more. A rich assortment of primitive goods is available, early furniture from 18th and 19th century, as well as a wide range of collectibles to suit any fancy.

Hours of relaxation are at hand while wandering the crossroads of Vermont searching for the interesting and priceless antiques and collectibles of a bygone Vermont era.

Antique and household auctions are commonplace throughout the summer months, many of which are held on premises at interesting rural country homes and estates. Local town papers announce auctions in advance with directions to events and lists of sample items that will cross the auction block.
